Sorry deleting your comments on my previous post! Writing so viciously is just not me...(Is it?) Anywayz, things might not always go my way but I am cool with it, now.

Back to some city stories. I think how much I can relate myself to a city has a lot to do with how much I am abssessed with its local media. (I hardly missed any issue of 周末画报 or 羊晚 back in highschool). Since moving to the city, my all time favourate is New York magazine. They can play around with the most gossip and highbrow columns at the same time. Last good Friday, as usual I was reading its online version, and reading through the daily news, the name "chumley's" just poped up to my eyes, in daily news! instead of restaurant session. The news is very interesting (pay attention to some related links) itself, and I can really feel it happening when it is so close to where I live:

I am espeicially fond of this hidden gem not just because its cozy neighbourhood setting, history or its no sign door, but also I learnt about it from a half-drunk passerby on st patty's day.

最近在读迈克。他文绉绉而带着尖酸才子口吻的文字很合我的胃口。谁叫我是国语教育，口语广东话长大的呢。别人看来矫情做作，我却读得津津有味。

“英格列，这不过是部电影”。谁也不能比他更清楚什么是戏梦人生，什么是暗暗执著，自讨苦吃。

昨日终于看了“如果。爱“，剧情个人认为乏善可陈，只是片尾反复提到的青葱草地，虽然俗气，却难免让人感怀。谁不喜欢少不经事的纯纯爱恋？只是经历种种，便会退化僵硬，更乘机会为自己找各种借口怀念一番。

人生若只如初见。可惜这是永不take two, 终会落幕的一出戏。

今晚之后，我知自己就不再会有什么遗憾，究竟是对人生完全态度不一样的两个人。

Biking in the city and some thoughts

Won a Biachi bike by registering the MS Tour, which lightened me up with the enthusiation of joining the Sunday biking training of our CS team.

We met up by the Park at 90th & Fifth (close to home is also an very important factor for my joining), then rode over to the west side (Riverside drive), up to the GWB and over to NJ. There was a bunch of verterans and everyone is nice and funny. Even I suck so much, I still enjoyed the ride a lot and felt glad I did make it. The weather was fabulous (80s and sunny, so got some cute sun tans). Central park, gw briges and NJ park were just beautiful on such a peaceful yet lively Sunday. When I rode back from Jersey w/ one of the team captains who is a long time new yorker from UK, he showed me some interesting buildings that I had never noticed or been aware of along the west side. When we went by Riverside Church, the bell started ringing. I looked back under the shadow of the trees, and saw this magnificent architect glowed in color and splendor.

At that moment, I was really touched. I couldn't fully explain. It might be the budding of my love to the city, or finding something I had long lost.

小生活需要大智慧. I read about this on a frd's blog. Can't agree more. I can be over sentimental sometimes, but as a virgo and libra, or as practical as I am, I know how to pull back myself. But even so, pieces by pieces, I know life still tears you apart. When I sat there and feeling fragile, it is this love and passion, this appreciation of life, from others, inspired me.

Try to reach out, try to appreciate. be brave. I know I will make it.

So, for some unknown reason (not really), I collapsed in the street. I believe I have proved myself trying hard enough by grabbing every opportunity to pay ER a visit, during my two year stay in the States.

Last time I paid 300 sth/ (total 1000) for a one-hour visit (50 mins waiting) in Pitts, no idea how much I need to contribute this time, including the ambulance fee...God bless UHC...

Just to check out how John Hull looks like, I attended the his IAFE lecture with two of my coworkers tonight, which made us all the way down to wall street. (The process showed I have good memories comparing with Phat who had been working there for 6 mons, haha.)

A pretty interesting idea I got from the lecture is that, instead of using base way etc, to get coupla correlations, JH says we can use Gaussian Coupla to get coupla directly from market data. This Black Schole's creator seems to be confident about this method's popularity even after 10 years. He also politely informed us that his latest book Risk Management and Financial Institutions would be due tomorrow, hehe. We can find this lecture material on his website in several days.

After meeting we went to get some free food at acceptions. Again, what a small world~ Also spotted David Li there, really curious what he might be thinking. Since my coworker who used to work for him was having a little chitchat with him, I figured chilling aside might be a better idea...hm, not a bad Tues, at least getting off early~

上班以来朝九晚九, 周末便懒懒起床和jing到Soho或midtown brunch和shopping,兴之所至还可以到meat packing club hopping. 再次听到很不错的NY Philarmonic.也许城市生活总不会太坏.
所谓走向庸俗化,也许便在这不知不觉间.

I had complained about being too relaxed, but after three weeks vacation, I finally realized, there are ALWAYS plenty of things to do...I feel thankful for my super nice college, who teaches me and gives me many opportunites to learn^&^ Tho you are moving to the FO, I will bug you as always~~~ Also congrts to my roommate, who is making her way to the floor as well. Maazel and Barenboim!!!

05年30号晚上和pink, clarence在lincoln center听了马泽尔Maazel的New York Philharmonic, 前两天同样在lincoln center看了nutcraker,非常喜欢^&^.
当晚有Weber的Bassoon Concerto, Tchaikovsky的Violin Concerto还有Sibelius的Symphony No.5. 首席小提琴是只有23岁的Jdith Leclair,灰常pp,结束后pink和Clarence都找她签名去了=..= 有幸现场领略到pink所说德奥派的雄浑音场,异常喜欢西贝柳斯的Sym 5.Clarence告诉我Maazel曾经是Pittsburgh Symphony Orchastra的conductor,便更异常有亲切感.
想想今年还和Clarence在Chicago听到了英伦派 Barenboim波伦波恩在Chicago Symphony Orchestra指挥的Mendelssohn的violin concerto和Mahler的Sym 5.hahahahah~~~刚从Chicago过来的pink还告诉我Barenboim三天前举行了最后一场告别演出!!(八卦:Barenboim 可是"她比烟花寂寞"里面的原型哦)
以后在city工作要争取把四大violin concerto的另外两首也听了,也希望pink多来city一起听,顺便启蒙一下我=)是以one of my new year resolutions=)

I have been working sooo hard...I can't believe I have finished all these craps! It is just 2am and I have nothing to do now..hehe MISMized...

It has been a really tough semester. So many things were going on: a crazy IS proj, many heavy loaded courses, and job hunting. I have been flying almost every week! And when these are all over, I start to feel empty. Yea, I had such a great experience with the project, and well, sometimes there were good moments in job hunting as well: when Citadel treated me in Four Seasons and UBS let me stay in Ritz-Carlton Central Park... Bad moments? hehe 可能很多culture的不一样吧,我想中国学生interview还是要多练习的.偶见过street上大部分的ibank,所以如果以后谁需要IT interview信息的话, I am more than happy to offer my info哦.

so after I finished my internship on Aug. 12th, we had a drink at Iguana. I had two cosmo and one shot. When Clarence came to pick me, I was feeling pretty dizzy, prob was too puzzled by Morgan's little quiz...

After leaving Iguana, I tried to walk as fast as I can on our way to Daniel's, so that I wouldn't seem so drunk, hehe. well, but I seemed to become sober when we arrived in Daniel. It is such a gorgeous restaurant, every course is fantastic. If you try the paired with wine, that's even called magic. We had such a great time there.

Later the week, I continued my stupid math course on Broad street. The cable in my apt just broke. Well well, I gonna finished the exam by Thursday, then headed to Chicago the next day.

I was so surprised by the tidyness of chicago after leaving ny. I gonna meet up my frd YJ and ran into my MISM classmate Sam on the street. We went to the Jazz showcase that night, and very luckily we gonna see James Moody's show! This little 80s man is so funny and the piano that night is really awesome.

Like my every typical ending, I am back to Pitts now, gonna meet up some new students, and ready to move in the new apt. Time to rock!~

i hd all the worse experiences in new york city. after spending a beautiful afternoon in central park and Gugenhem ALONE, I went to Astor Pl for my favorate puffs as a lil reward. But my wallet was just gone before getting into metro. Oh my wallet! my dearest wallet accompanied me for over four years! which more importantly, it contains all my cash and cards. So I became broke technically and practically immediately. I frozed on the street for over 10 secs. I brought out my cell, and didn't know who to call. whenever I recall it I feel so helpless, or more precisely, pathetic. Right here, I need to send my tons of thx to Kitty, without whom I hv to sleep on the street. Yea, don't ask me where my b/f is. He's just not the kinda person I can get hold of.

I miss home more frequently these days. The city is no more fancy as sex and the city. I just realized this show can be so boring. I dont really like the clubbing style here as well.

I get tired of crying to myself. sh, gz, China, my home, no other better places for me on this planet. But i know my floating life just begins.

I really like Boston, its culture, its atmosphere, etc. a lil jealous Li Zhe who can spend his undergrd there. But, well, CMU is pretty nice too. Education is all abt urself, and how much u can make from it. Besides, who know where I will be in the future?;)
